Costco retail distribution

Costco retail distribution is a term synonymous with membership only warehouse club. Membership only warehouse is where members are allowed to purchase the merchandise at far much lower prices especially if bought in bulk. The company is a household name when it comes to buying merchandise at the most competitive prices in the market. This is made possible by having warehouses and retail stores stocking all the commodities in a plain and simple manner thus cutting down on the fancy costs attributed to stylish counters and cabinets. Founded in 1976 Costco retail distribution has grown in leaps and bounds to become the seventh largest retailer in the world and the second largest in the united state of America. The retail store holds the top position when it comes to membership in the US. Being a registered member of the retail outlet attracts fairer prices as compared to normal retail prices.

Through the years Costco retail distribution has continued to offer retail services to the community as well as growing its distribution chain. The company has established other retail stores in foreign countries such the United Kingdom, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Canada and Taiwan. The huge coverage is served by a workforce of over 173,000 employees spread out in all the retail outlets and working on both full time as well as part time basic. Costco retail distribution offers physical retail shopping which is also complimented by online shopping thus further enhancing the shopping experience.

As at February 2013 Costco retail distribution had a membership of 68.2million members, this being the largest membership of any company in the United States. The Impressive growth of the retail warehouse is quite evident with the company being acknowledged as the first company to ever grow its sales from zero to $ 3 billion in a period of less than six years. This phenomenal growth of the company provided $ 97.062 billion worth of sales as at August 2012 out of which $1.7 billion was the net profit. The company was featured as the 24th company as per the Fortune 500 magazine in 2012. The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) named Costco retail distribution as the best company when it comes to specialized retail marketing.

The success of Costco is attributed to efficiency in cutting down on unnecessary costs. This include selling products from the pallets in which the items come in instead of breaking down the item and repacking on shelves thus the retail outlets have no shelves as commonly seen in other retail stores. The store will only stock products that fit into the recommended wholesale prices therefore incase a dealer or manufacturer refuses to lower the prices, the store stops stocking the commodities. Costco also limits its markup by 15% as well as ensuring lower power costs by use of skylights to light up the premises. To become a member of Costco retail distribution, one must purchase the membership one year in advance. Online purchases do not require membership but a surcharge of five percent is applicable on the purchases. Purchases made through Costco cash cards do not require membership and don't attract a surcharge. Get more information on http://shiftmarketinggroup.net/
